Types of Braces / Brackets

Our office offers many styles of braces for you to choose from which may be discussed at your first visit.

Metal Braces
Mini Uni-Twin braces are designed with a low profile and smoothly finished surface to provide a comfortable fit for you. The Mini Uni-Twin design allows the use of full size finishing archwires earlier in treatment and that may reduce overall treatment time.

Gold Braces
Gold braces are stainless steel brackets coated with 24 karat gold. They are popular with patients of all ages because they add a little "sparkle" to your smile.

SmartClip Self-Ligating Appliance System
This state-of-the-art appliance allows teeth to be straightened with fewer appointments and less treatment time. Braces with conventional archwire systems require frequent visits for maintenance and tightening that are not always necessary with SmartClip self-ligating braces. Treatment time can be cut by 1/3 the time as using conventional braces.
Self-ligating means that the braces on your teeth do not require special ties or elastic bands to hold your archwire in contact with your braces. SmartClip braces use lighter forces and cause less friction than conventional braces resulting in a more comfortable fit for you. There is no additional cost for this unique appliance system.

Clarity (Clear) Braces
The color of an individual’s teeth varies. Clarity braces “blend” with these color differences and do not draw attention to your braces. Clarity braces perform like metal braces and will not result in longer treatment time. Clarity is made from a very hard ceramic material that does not stain. Your elastic bands might stain from certain food or drink, but can be changed. As with the SmartClip these can be yours at no additional cost.

OrthoClear
OrthoClear is the advanced way to straighten teeth and improve your smile. Using the latest medical imaging technologies, OrthoClear manufactures clear aligners that rapidly straighten teeth. Each aligner is worn for 3 weeks, and can be removed to eat, brush, and floss. During wear, your teeth are gently moved to their desired position. The length of the process depends on your specific situation and the complexity of your case. Most people will not even know you are wearing them. Periodically you will visit Dr. Wertz to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned and the necessary changes will be made.Once you are finished wearing your aligners, you will enjoy a beautiful smile!
This treatment is most appropriate for adult patients.
